Emily Compagno and Her Mustang: A Love Affair with American Muscle

Emily Compagno isn’t just a Fox News personality; she’s a bona fide car enthusiast. Her passion is most famously embodied in her custom-built 1972 Ford Mustang Mach 1, affectionately named Malosa. The car isn’t just a ride—it’s a piece of Americana that has captured Compagno’s heart.

“I remember the first time I saw Malosa,” Compagno recalls, her eyes lighting up. “It was sitting in a small garage in upstate California. The bodywork had some dents, and the paint was faded, but I knew instantly it had potential. I walked around it three times before I even spoke to the owner—I just couldn’t stop staring.”

That initial encounter sparked a months-long quest to make the car her own. She poured countless hours into restoring and upgrading the Mustang, installing a 5.0L Gen 3 Coyote Aluminator engine and a Tremec 6-speed transmission, blending vintage muscle car aesthetics with modern performance.

“The first time I fired it up after the engine swap, I think I startled half the neighborhood,” she laughs. “The roar of that engine… it’s like it was speaking directly to me. That’s when I fell completely in love.”

Compagno’s love for the Mustang goes beyond horsepower and torque. She often shares stories of weekend drives along California’s coastal highways, music blasting, wind in her hair, feeling the pure freedom that only a classic muscle car can deliver. “There’s something almost magical about the Mach 1,” she says. “It’s not just a car; it’s a statement. It’s a reminder of why I fell in love with driving in the first place.”
