It has been almost 19 years since the world mourned the loss of the iconic conservationist Steve Irwin. Renowned for his profound affection for wildlife, Steve introduced innumerable individuals to the marvels of the animal kingdom and inspired generations with his fervor and zeal.

Tragically, Steve lost his life in 2006 while filming at the Great Barrier Reef, where he was fatally struck in the chest by a stingray. His friend and cameraman, Justin Lyon, recounted Steve’s last words: “I’m dying.” Despite the crew’s attempts to save him, the injury to his heart was too grave to overcome.

The absence of “The Crocodile Hunter” continues to weigh heavily on his family—his wife Terri and their children, Bindi and Robert—who strive to uphold his legacy. Bindi frequently shares touching memories on social media, and both children have pursued careers as wildlife conservationists, following in their father’s footsteps.

Steve and Terri first met in 1991, sharing a love that Steve described as “love at first sight.” Their marriage lasted 14 years, characterized by a strong and lasting bond. In a 2025 interview with Stellar Magazine, Terri revealed that she remains single, stating, “I found my happily ever after, and I think I still have a lot of love in my life.”

Although there were rumors linking her to actor Russell Crowe, Terri refuted them, referring to him as a loyal friend to the family.

“I’m lonely for Steve, but I’m not lonely,” she expressed. “There are no rules. Women can find fulfillment whether they marry or not.”
