At least 15 individuals lost their lives in a horrific accident on Thursday in Manitoba, Canada.

A bus carrying elderly passengers collided with a truck at an intersection near Carberry, 170 kilometers west of Winnipeg.

The bus passengers were en route to a casino in Carberry. Deputy Police Officer Rob Hill,

commander of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba,confirmed that “at least 15 individuals were pronounced dead as a result of the collision.”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau extended his condolences,

stating his thoughts are with the injured and the families of those who lost loved ones.

Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson also expressed her sympathy.

Carberry, Manitoba – January 16, 2025 – A devastating accident in Manitoba on Thursday has claimed the lives of at least 15 individuals. The tragedy occurred when a bus, carrying elderly passengers en route to a casino, collided with a truck at an intersection near Carberry, located approximately 170 kilometers west of Winnipeg.

Deputy Police Officer Rob Hill, commander of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Manitoba, confirmed that “at least 15 individuals were pronounced dead as a result of the collision.” Ten other passengers are currently receiving medical care in nearby hospitals, with authorities working to assess their conditions.

Images from the scene revealed the heartbreaking aftermath, with destroyed wheelchair seats and walking frames scattered near tarpaulins covering the victims’ bodies. The impact of the crash left a scene of unimaginable devastation.

Both drivers of the truck and the bus survived the crash, though the police have yet to disclose who was responsible for the incident. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the collision.

In response to the tragedy, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his condolences, stating, “My thoughts are with the injured and the families of those who have lost loved ones in this horrific accident.” Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson also shared her sympathy, offering support to those affected by the devastating event.

This incident has shaken the local community, and authorities continue to provide support and resources to the families and survivors impacted by the accident.

Ten other individuals are receiving medical care at the hospital.

Both drivers survived, but the police have not disclosed who was responsible for the accident.
