Hollywood and Broadway are mourning the loss of actress Jennifer Harmon, whose long career across theater and television made her a familiar face to audiences for decades. Harmon has died at the age of 82, according to a brief obituary confirming her passing.

Born on December 3, 1943, in Pasadena, California, Jennifer Harmon built a career that stretched from daytime television to some of Broadway’s most celebrated productions. Harmon portrayed Cathy Craig Lord from 1976 to 1978, delivering a performance that resonated strongly with viewers and critics alike. Her work on the popular soap opera earned her a nomination for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 1978.

After the success of One Life to Live, Harmon continued to establish herself as a dependable and respected presence in daytime television. She went on to appear in several additional soap operas, including Another World, Loving, and Guiding Light. Each role further strengthened her reputation as an actress capable of bringing emotional depth and elegance to dramatic storytelling.

Over the years, she appeared in an impressive 21 Broadway productions, working steadily in theater and earning admiration from colleagues and audiences alike. Her stage résumé reflected both classic and modern productions, highlighting her range as a performer.

Among her notable Broadway credits was The School for Scandal in 1966, a production that showcased her talent early in her career. Decades later, she returned for the 1995 revival of the same play, creating a rare full-circle moment in her professional journey.

In addition to starring roles, Harmon was widely respected for her work as an understudy to some of theater’s biggest names. Throughout her career, she worked alongside acclaimed performers including Stockard Channing, Judi Dench, and Jessica Lange.

Her television career extended beyond soap operas as well. Harmon appeared in several well-known series over the years, including Dallas, Law & Order, and The Good Wife, continuing to work steadily long after her Broadway fame had been established.
