The husband was on cloud nine. An entire week with his mistress lay ahead — no calls, no control, no unnecessary questions. Everything had been planned down to the smallest detail. The tickets for two to a warm country were already in the car, and for his wife he had prepared a convincing story about an urgent business trip.

In the evening he returned home as usual. He kissed his wife, asked about their daughter’s school matters, had dinner calmly, and showed not the slightest sign of nervousness. From the outside, he looked like a model family man who simply needed to travel for work.

But the wife had long felt that something was wrong with this “business.” Too many small oddities, too cold a look, too even a voice. There was no proof, but her intuition gave her no peace.

The tax authorities reacted quickly. The audit began suddenly and on several fronts at once. People with folders appeared at the office. Accounts were frozen, operations suspended, equipment seized. A few days later, the case went to court.

While the husband was posting beach photos, cocktails, and his happy mistress in his stories, the court had already made its decision.

The business was completely confiscated. The house registered in his name was seized. The car was taken to cover the debts. The bank cards were blocked until all circumstances were clarified.

The phone call caught him right on the sun lounger. At first, he didn’t understand what was happening. Then he heard the word “court” and turned pale. He tried to open the banking app — the balance was zero. He tried to pay for the return ticket — the card was declined.

The mistress looked at him in confusion, and for the first time in a long while he felt real fear. There was no money. There was no way to return. And no one was waiting for him at home anymore.
