While Mary pursued art, Charlie poured his energy into building\u00a0Turning Point USA<\/strong>\u00a0into a powerhouse conservative brand. Friends say his resilience came not just from politics but from a supportive family, especially his late grandmother, Patricia \u201cGram\u201d Smith, who died in 2019 at age 96.\u00a0\u201cShe might have been his biggest supporter,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Miller said.<\/p>\n

For those who knew him, Kirk\u2019s death at 31 still feels unreal. Draim recalled texting his old friend\u2019s number after hearing the news:\u00a0\u201cI said, Rest in peace brother. We were two young kids with young dreams. And you changed the world.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Though his sister Mary walked a different political road, those close to the family say Charlie never let differences divide them. Instead, he welcomed the debate \u2014 a quality that defined his career and, ultimately, his legacy.<\/p>\n
