Born in Hampstead, London, Faithfull came from an aristocratic background, with her father being a British Army officer and her mother a ballerina of Austro-Hungarian descent. In 1964, her life changed when she was discovered at a Rolling Stones party by manager Andrew Loog Oldham, who helped launch her music career.
