Following the devastating floods that occurred in the Guadalupe River area during Fourth of July celebrations, at least 104 individuals have lost their lives. Within hours, a month\u2019s worth of rain fell, causing flood levels to rise to 26 feet and washing away cars, cottages, and mobile homes.<\/p>\n
Those caught up in the pandemonium included Minnesota seasonal campsite workers Lyle and Sue Glenna. However, instead of concentrating only on their own escape, they used valuable seconds to warn others, probably saving many lives in the process.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey were able to get into their truck and honk a warning out to a lot of people at the campground, which definitely helped some people make it out,\u201d said their son, Wes Glenna, speaking to CBS News.<\/p>\n

That assertion was confirmed by a GoFundMe page established in the couple\u2019s support, which praised their \u201cpresence of mind\u201d and prompt action: \u201cBy honking their horn and waking people up, they were able to save many lives at the campground, giving some people valuable minutes to evacuate.\u201d<\/p>\n
In less than ten minutes, flooding swept through the campground. Lyle and Sue managed to escape with only their truck and the clothing they were carrying.<\/p>\n
Wes remarked, \u201cThey lost everything.\u201d \u201cFriends, guests, coworkers\u2026 They saw it take place. It was extremely traumatic.<\/p>\n
The intense stress caused Lyle to have a heart attack. Thankfully, it is expected that he will fully recover.<\/p>\n
The community\u2019s support has poured in rapidly. With over $24,000 already raised through their GoFundMe, the couple is beginning to rebuild<\/p>\n
According to a page update, \u201cToday, Kyle was able to leave the hospital.\u201d They refused to let him go until he had a new CPAP machine. They were able to obtain it swiftly and stress-free because of your generosity.<\/p>\n
