A Mexican national, Carlos Ernesto Guerrero-Gutierrez, was sentenced to 46 months in prison for assaulting three U.S. Border Patrol agents in El Paso.<\/p>\n

In November 2023, while being held at a processing facility, he attacked agents with a nail-covered board, injuring two and biting another. After resisting arrest, he was subdued with a taser.<\/p>\n

Guerrero-Gutierrez pleaded guilty on May 6, 2024, to three counts of assault on federal officers.<\/p>\n

Authorities emphasized their commitment to protecting law enforcement and holding violent offenders accountable<\/p>\n

The case was investigated by the FBI and U.S. Border Patrol and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stanley Serwatka.<\/p>\n
