According to authorities, the 29-year-old man \u2013 whose name has not been released \u2013 was visiting the park when he spotted the massive reptile, later identified as a fully-grown female crocodile named Lalay, lounging in her enclosure.<\/p>\n

Believing the 15-foot predator was just a lifelike statue, the man decided it was the perfect opportunity to snap a few selfies.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe tourist was walking around the area, then he saw the crocodile, which he thought was just a plastic fixture,\u201d Police Staff Sergeant Joel Sajolga of the Siay Municipal Police told multiple outlets, per the\u00a0Daily Mail<\/a>.<\/p>\n

So, phone in hand, \u201cHe climbed the fence and entered the enclosure, and the crocodile attacked him,\u201d Sajolga added.<\/p>\n

Death roll<\/h2>\n

In one of the videos, captured by a zoo visitor\u00a0Ca\u00f1ete Jie<\/a>, the tourist can be seen grinning as he approaches the crocodile in the murky waters.<\/p>\n

What followed was nothing short of terrifying.<\/p>\n

Within seconds, Lalay turns her head, lunges forward, and sinks her powerful jaws into the man\u2019s arm.<\/p>\n

Lalay then bit the man\u2019s thigh and performed a death roll \u2013 a brutal maneuver\u00a0crocodiles<\/a>\u00a0use to disorient and dismember their prey.<\/p>\n

According to the\u00a0University of Tennessee<\/a>, \u201ccrocodiles can\u2019t chew, so they use a powerful bite coupled with a full-bodied twisting motion \u2013 a death roll \u2013 to disable, kill, and dismember prey into smaller pieces. The lethal movement is characteristic of both alligators and crocodiles.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trapped for 30 minutes<\/h2>\n

In another clip, the man\u2019s blood-curdling screams can be heard echoing through the park as Lalay spins with horrifying force.<\/p>\n

Witnesses say the man was trapped inside the enclosure for 30 agonizing minutes, bleeding and barely able to move, while Lalay held tight.<\/p>\n

According to the Daily Mail, the handler in charge of the beast risked his own life by jumping \u00a0into the enclosure. He then smashed a piece of concrete over the crocodile\u2019s head, forcing her to release her deadly grip.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis kind of behavior is very dangerous,\u201d Sajolga said of the tourist\u2019s reckless stunt. \u201cNobody should ever enter an animal\u2019s enclosure at the zoo. He put other people\u2019s lives at risk and he is very lucky to have survived,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Paramedics rushed to the scene and discovered the tourist had suffered serious bites to his right arm and leg, according to reports. He was quickly transported to Dr. George T. Hofer Memorial Hospital, where doctors treated his wounds with more than 50 stitches, The Manila Bulletin confirmed, per\u00a0People<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jie, who captured the incident on video, said: \u201cI don\u2019t know why he would do such a stupid thing, but I\u2019m glad the man is\u00a0alive<\/a>, and the crocodile just let him go. His leg wasn\u2019t broken, but he suffered arm and thigh wounds.\u201d<\/p>\n
