Sally Kirkland, Golden Globe-winning actress, has passed away at the age of 84.<\/p>\n
TMZ were the first to break the news, confirming that she had passed away days after she had moved into hospice in Palm Springs, South California.<\/p>\n
Reports this weekend revealed that the decision was taken to move the actress after she was diagnosed with dementia last year.<\/p>\n
A recent GoFundMe page set up by her friends, meanwhile, detailed how Kirkland had been struggling with \u201clife-threatening infections\u201d having suffered a fall in the shower. The page in question was intended to raise funds for her \u201curgent medical care\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe had a fall in the shower, when she was left unattended; injuring her ribs, foot, along with cuts and bruises,\u201d the page read.<\/p>\n
After studying at the Actors Studio and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Kirkland became a fixture of New York\u2019s Off-Broadway and avant-garde scene in the 1960s\u2014including a stint with Andy Warhol\u2019s Factory.<\/p>\n
