Twelve years after losing his wife, a grieving father finally decides to try dating again, encouraged by his daughter, who believes her mother would want him to find happiness. Although his dates initially seem successful, every woman mysteriously disappears by the next morning. Worried about the repeated pattern, his daughter asks her best friend, Rachel, to investigate by dating him herself. Their date goes wonderfully, but Rachel soon receives anonymous threats warning her to stay away from the father and his family. The threatening messages include private information and a photograph of Rachel with him, suggesting someone is deliberately sabotaging his relationships.
The daughter investigates and discovers security footage showing a suspicious figure near her father’s home. Recognizing the person’s distinctive shoes, she suspects her aunt Sabrina, her late mother’s younger sister. When confronted, Sabrina admits she has been monitoring the women her brother-in-law dates and anonymously threatening them because she believes his new relationships dishonor her sister’s memory. Sabrina’s actions frighten innocent people and force the family to confront the unhealthy ways grief can influence behavior. Rachel reports the threats, and Sabrina accepts responsibility and agrees to seek professional help. Eventually, the father begins dating Jocelyn, whose relationship with him continues. He learns that loving his late wife does not mean sacrificing his future, while his daughter discovers that honoring lost loved ones means preserving their memories while allowing life and happiness to continue.
