Emily discovers that her husband, Daniel, has disappeared with her best friend, Lauren, after sending her a message saying they have run away together. However, the police reveal that things are not what they seem. Daniel had called Emily before sending the message and left a voicemail warning her not to trust what she saw and to find a blue folder. Inside it, Emily discovers shocking evidence that Daniel was secretly working for the Department of Justice to investigate a money-laundering organization.
Emily also discovers that Lauren is connected to Parker Global Logistics and that Daniel had been investigating her. Lauren suddenly appears in Emily’s house with a gun and explains that she never truly betrayed Emily. She says Daniel was helping her uncover the truth about her brother Michael, who had discovered the illegal money-laundering operation and was killed because of it. Emily realizes that Daniel’s betrayal may have been part of a secret mission to protect her.
